Dhaniakhali Assembly constituency is reserved for SC. The artisans employed in weaving, cottage and small industries along with landless workers and marginal farmers constitute the weaker sections of the locality. The main crops produced in the locality are potato, paddy and jute. Most of the students of the college are 1st or 2nd generation in higher education. It is the motto of this college to impart education at the graduation level to the students of the locality.
